ARTISAN PRINTS

Sigrid developed the unusual technique she uses today for textile printing by creating stamps she carves herself from blocks of rubber. (She actually began her career cutting her stamps from potatoes, but that's another story). Her distinctive imagery and signature sun-washed color palette have made her work iconic and timeless. Her artistry is applied to fabrics for fashion & home decor, as well as cards, prints and paintings. It's also the basis for the art workshops she teaches on her popular international art & yoga Creative Well-being Retreats. These prints are reminiscent of how she started her fashion company 35 years ago and are still fresh today.

Sigrid says: "As a designer and entrepreneur I must keep asking myself what drives what I do. What makes my product different than all the others out there? I have been at this a while and I find myself drawn to what initiated my passion for textiles and clothing from the beginning. Authenticity. My prints were literally cut from potatoes and I never would have guessed where those simple stamped images of birds and fish would lead. It does my heart good to be back to my roots ( albeit sans potatoes) creating clothes that are touched by human hands. Wood carved. Tassels made of thread and cut by hand. Artisan embroidery. Cotton cloth drying in the open air. Its the real deal."
